Special Structures Lab provides specialist engineering services to architects, engineers, manufacturers and contractors in the field of membrane engineering. A collaboration between Rudi Enos Design and other engineers with expertise in the field, the office has the ability to provide simple parts of a project such as formfinding or patterning or to generate complete projects.
The engineering capabilities include the design, analysis and certification of structures, both traditional and fabric supported, with specialist knowledge of mobile or temporary installations, specialist services to manufacturers for the production of 3 dimensional membranes, with regard to surface or form generation, finite element analysis using the ‘force density’ method, manufacturing information such as edge and pressure point detailing, and cutting patterns generation. Presentation capabilities include C.A.D. (2d & 3d), DTP, Animation (3d modeling and rendering, including rendering to CD and video), and traditional graphical presentations.
