Welcome to the  Rudi Enos Design  website. This site shows projects where Rudi designed structures or provided services to the clients to make the project happen. Most of the projects predate the time when Special Structures Lab was formed in 1997. 


Special Structures Lab Ltd are specialists in the field of advanced lightweight structure design. They provide design, analysis and manufacturing support for many leading manufacturers. They specialise in tension fabric structures and are able to provide expertise on most types of tensile construction.

Using state of the art software suites, they generate surface forms for membrane roofs in order to determine the appropriate equilibrium form for an anticlastic roof using the software.The software allows their engineers to combine the simulation of wind loads, structural members such as steel and concrete, wire rope cables and of course the fabric into a coherent whole. They design Big Tops, Tension and tensile fabric membrane roofs for structures that are used in most music festivals around the world. In 1998 their Tensile 1 structure (also known inhouse as the Valhalla) was awarded the Guinness World Record for 'Largest Portable Structure'. In 2015 they designed and managed the build of the even larger, widest span tensile portable structure ever built, the 82 metre wide MT82 Ce-Space Arena, first used at Reading festival in 2015, and used at Glastonbury as the dance tent as well as the main stage at Latitude Festival in 2016. Their services include the design of stages, seating grandstands and foldable, deployable structures and vehicles.
